This is a sponsored post that I am sharing because safety is a number one priority in my family. Regardless, all opinions are honest and my own.

Safety First!

As a parent, it is my job to keep my children safe. Whether that is in my home, outside, somewhere we travel to, or in the mode of transportation we take. For my family, vehicle safety is a big deal. We recently decided to purchase a new vehicle and safety was at the top of my priority list. Even with all of the research done, there is always something that we could have missed, including a recall.

According to the Wall Street Journal, 51.26 million vehicles were recalled in 2015. I know I don’t have the time to keep track of millions of vehicle recalls so I rely on the experts at the dealership to sell me a vehicle with zero recalls.

A Leader in Safety

AutoNation, America’s largest automotive retailer, is ensuring all of their customers are purchasing recall-free vehicles. Every car AutoNation sells is checked to make sure that every item that any manufacturer identified in a recall has been repaired, replaced or corrected. So every car they sell, new or used, is recall-free. If they don’t have the parts to fix the vehicle, it is pulled from their inventory and appropriately identified as not for sale.

You know what is scary? There are dealers that sell vehicles with recalls issued without even repairing them! As a consumer, you would expect that standards would be set for vehicles in inventory with recalls, but apparently there is not. One of the dealers that is selling vehicles with recalls is CarMax. Read more about this in this press release issued by Consumers for Auto Reliability and Safety.

Why Am I Telling You This?

Because as a parent, safety is key. I want to ensure that my vehicle is safe, that my family is safe, and that other vehicles on the road with us are safe too.

Safety is of the utmost importance while driving. I do all that I can to ensure my family is in the clear of danger. We wear our seat belts, I don’t use my cell phone, no drinking and driving and I obey the speed limit. Of course there are many other things too. But when it comes to the working parts of the vehicle, there is only so much I can do. If I am making a vehicle purchase, I want to know that the one I am buying is 100% recall-free and safe. I don’t want to be driving a ticking time bomb.

Please help spread the word about vehicle safety and purchasing recall-free vehicle from a reliable dealer. Remember to do your research before making a purchase. Be well-educated on all of the vehicle’s safety features. Ask any and all questions you have to make sure your family is safe on the road.

The Choosy Mommy came to life as I began writing for the Choosy Kids (www.choosykids.com) blog from the mom perspective. We also have bloggers who are teachers, nutritionist, pediatricians, dental experts, etc. and I share my two cents on food choices, physical activity, and daily health routines plus so much more! I have a ton to share but didn’t want to take over the Choosy Kids blog so I decided it was best to grow The Choosy Mommy brand.

It not only protects the person buying the car but others on the road or in their vehicle with them.

  7. Wow, it never even occurred to me to look up a vehicle to see if it was recalled when purchasing a used car. Such a smart idea.

    • Christine - The Choosy Mommy

But even if you don’t look it up, you should have confidence in your dealer that they won’t sell you a car with a recall.

  11. Car safety is a priority in our house! There is nor reason that retailers should be selling cars with open recalls on them. Shame Shame.
