Sports Themed Birthday Party
5…4…3…2…1…Happy Birthday! I feel like I say this with every birthday, but how in the world did 5 years already pass by? My oldest daughter celebrated her 5th birthday this past weekend and we had a BALL of a time! She loves sports. All sports! So when she decided (a year ago!) that she wanted to have a sports themed birthday party, I thought it suited her well.
First Period Concessions
Since it was a sports themed birthday party, we decided to have food that you could find at the ball park on game day.
- Of course you have to have hot dogs. At first I wasn’t going to because I wanted a cooking-free party (meaning no one had to man a grill or oven) but my husband insisted and I am glad he did. The hot dogs were a BIG hit!
- Soft pretzels
- Nachos and cheese
- Sunflower seeds
- Big league chew bubble gum
- Mini pizzas
Second Period Beverages
It was so hot that day so I knew we had to have a lot to drink. I got out the Gatorade container and went to work!
- Orange Gatorade
- Shaved Iced
- Sweet Tea
- Yunegling and Root beer on tap
Third Period Decorations & Favors
This is my favorite part of any birthday party! I hit up my two favorite spots for decorations: Oriental Trading and Family Dollar.
Oriental Trading has so many sports themed birthday party things to choose from! It was so hard to decide but I was on a budget. I purchased almost all of party decorations from Oriental Trading. Plus we found not one, but two awesome games to incorporate into the party. The piñata is always a big hit at our kid birthday parties so we bought the coolest baseball piñata from Oriental Trading too! The shipping was so fast so if you are last minute planning, I highly recommend ordering from Oriental Trading.
Now for the favors. I usually don’t do anything big for party favors but I happened to stroll into Family Dollar one day and they had the coolest sports notebooks and baseball bat pencils. So I bought all of them at they had and incorporated those into the favor bags. I also found a sports themed fan and some glow necklaces for the bags too. Although I must say the bag of Big League Chew bubble gum in each bag was the favorite!
I think everyone at the party had a great time. I heard rave reviews about the concessions and how good the food was! Capri and all of her friends had a blast swimming in the pool and playing games. If you are thinking about doing a sports themed birthday party for any age, I highly recommend it!
